Qamis en lin

It’s truly breathable

Linen fibers allow air to circulate and can absorb a significant amount of moisture without feeling like a wet fabric. In practical terms: your skin stays dry and cool, whereas synthetic fabrics trap heat and moisture.

The loose fit does the rest

Linen and the qamis are a perfect match: the loose fit allows air to circulate between the fabric and the body, whereas a fitted shirt presses the fabric against the skin. This is also why linen’s natural wrinkles are much less noticeable on a qamis than on a fitted shirt.

A durable fiber

Linen is one of the strongest and oldest textile fibers in existence, and it becomes softer with each wash rather than wearing out. A well-cared-for linen qamis becomes softer over time—it’s a fabric that improves with age.

Season

Why choose a linen qamis for summer?

Because it’s the most breathable fabric in your wardrobe. Linen allows air to circulate, absorbs sweat without clinging to the skin, and feels cool to the touch—a sensation that neither synthetic fabrics nor satin can replicate. Combined with the qamis’ loose fit, which promotes natural airflow, it’s the most comfortable outfit you can wear in hot weather.

Wrinkles

Does a linen qamis wrinkle?

Yes, and we’d rather tell you upfront: wrinkling is part of linen’s nature—no treatment can completely eliminate it. The good news is that the qamis is the garment where this is least noticeable: its loose fit and straight drape don’t show creases as much as a fitted shirt does. A slight wrinkle on a linen qamis looks natural, not sloppy.

Care

How do you wash a linen qamis?

Machine wash at 30°C on the delicate cycle; hang to dry in the open air—never use a dryer, as the heat breaks down the fibers and causes the linen to shrink. When it comes to ironing, this one tip makes all the difference: iron the qamis while it’s still slightly damp—the creases will smooth out effortlessly. And here’s a pleasant surprise: linen softens with every wash, so your qamis will feel even more comfortable the tenth time you wear it than the first.

Comparison

Linen or cotton qamis: which one should you choose?

Both are breathable, but not to the same degree. Linen is cooler and dries faster: it’s the best choice for hot weather and humid climates. Cotton, which is more supple and less prone to wrinkling, is the perfect compromise for everyday wear three out of four seasons. And for evenings and formal occasions when you want a flawless drape, opt for a satin fabric like that of the Atlas qamis: every fabric has its moment.
